I have just gotten the sit-on mower going. It is two decades old and very cranky after its lay off over winter. She has new spark plugs and a fresh fuel filter. I have manged to cut one of the four lawns. This was near impossible prior to my hip replacement. There is a bit of left hip pain but first guess is that I can save on paying someone to cut the lawn for me for the next few months. This saves around £150 every two to three weeks in spring and this is slightly more than half of our weekly shopping bill. It is a significant amount for us. I got the fuel filter down at the farm supply shop where the woman on the till recognises me from our discussions about hunting and killing moles. My tally is in excess of two dozen moles now!!

Self-perception is often related to what one does. For the next six months I will be doing a lot of “estate management”. I may do a bit of DIY but to the world at large I will be simply another retiree musing at how poorly he fits with the modern world where people get intravenous / umbilical data at gigabits/s.

I am retired and aging. I think I am going a bit mutton. So I might need to get my ears tested.

My working hypothesis is that my residual fate is very limited and that to the world in general I don’t really have much relevance.

The basic ides is that we downsize and maybe move to a new unspecified area where there is new scenery to explore.

Despite all this from time to time I get dreams on lofty subjects with associated big cheeses in. What goes on in those dreams has little relevance to my day to day. The likelihood of anything real and measurable manifesting is very low. So I am just some kind of dreamer who just happens to have an alternate nocturnal dream-world. There has not been anything much in the dreams which is actionable.

The world at large need not be bothered all that much about what happens here on the compound.

I have no idea how others might see me but were I to approach, for example, a serious Venture Capitalist there is a huge and massive credibility gap.

I am more pikey than entrepreneur.

A bumpkin dreaming of quantum modalities, although perhaps unusual, is not something one should or could take seriously.

I find it extremely difficult to imagine myself in the kind of circles where I might mingle…

It is just another world…
