Following on from this morning’s dream I have been looking at the requirement for a US temporary green card.

At first pass I would fail to meet the eligibility criteria for any of these specifically on the reference front. There are no referees possible for me to account for the last two decades. No bureaucrat would be happy with that…
The Green Card also requires an offer of a job in the USA from reputable employers. This is a very very very unlikely thing.
The dream is pointing at something with a near vanishing probability.

In principle I could enter the USA as a tourist on a visa waiver programme for UK nationals visa ESTA
However if I answered honestly yes to:
Have you ever violated any law related to possessing, using, or distributing illegal drugs?
What happens then? I am not prince Harry….
Given that I don’t have a job they may find my answers to the following question dubious:
Are you currently seeking employment in the United States or were you previously employed in the United States without prior permission from the U.S. government?
And if I gave details of this blog for social media. I am no toady sycophantic of all things US and the Trump presidency.
I could well be inadmissible as a tourist.
It would be very risky to turn up at US immigration. I have been to the USA a couple of times before.
One to visit friends at CAL Berkeley and UT Austin, then for a retreat in upstate New York, then to go to Semicon West at San Jose / Santa Clara.
Perhaps I would not be so welcome now.
My great grandmother was born in Pennsylvania but I doubt that brings entrance benefits.
The stress and uncertainty associated with any possible travel to USA outweighs any benefits.
I don’t have much to offer as an alien…
I would not even be welcome in area 51…..
