Trap – Butterfly Feet – Dream – 09 – 01 -2012

I am in a foyer of a terminus which if full of coffee shop type outlets. People are climbing up the outside of staircases. These are young athletic women. I try my hand at chasing them. I am faster than them. We get to the other side and one of them sits on a table fingering herself in front of me. I ignore this gesture. The women try to surround me and cajole me. They try to take my rucksack. It is a trap and I break free.

I am now dumped in a makeshift prison cell with another man. There are four other men naked in there and they are all covered with sores. Their faces are misshapen, they are very large and hairless. One of them is threatening me. We shall see how long he lasts in here. I am unafraid because I know that I am stronger than he is. The attendants come in and introduce a creature which will work on my sores. It starts nibbling my sores and will join them up. I am advised to keep my eyes shut. There is discomfort but not pain.

I am now attending a series of parties which are somehow in a swish part of London. They are in an upstairs flat. Everyone is very trendy and my party piece is to show them my feet. At first my feet look normal. Soon though on each foot two pairs of butterfly wings unfold. Each pair is mis-matched in colour. There is a sense that each pair is a male and female pair. The butterfly wings are incredibly intricate and beautiful. They flap gracefully. If I do this enough, I can levitate. I know in the dream that the wings came from the healing of my sores.

The hosts for the party, a male and female goth come back and say that the next party stars at 11. They are dressed in purple and black with goth hair. They go down stairs and will return soon.

I am now walking along a rocky boulder strewn shore. The going is tough so I take my shoes off for greater purchase. I move into the outskirts of a “castle”. Some creatures start to come at me. I then start to unfurl my butterflies. They are even more beautiful than before and have grown in size and splendour. Seeing these the creatures steer a wide path around me and head for the sea.

I am now upstairs in the castle with the wife. We are walking around the ornamental colonnades. It is deserted. We notice a pack of randomly sized dogs outside the castle. One black one starts to circle the colonnades in the opposite direction to us. It comes closer to investigate. It is more interested in me. It comes over to the railings which separate us and I show it my hand for it to sniff. It then bites my hand trying to sink its teeth into me. I know it to be a female dog who because of its posh heritage thinks herself better than me. I am able to counteract the pressure of her jaws by flexing my hand. I say to her that she does not know what she is biting and had better think about it. I continue to flex my hand which forces her to open her jaws. She falls to the floor in a submissive posture.

Dream ends

Mercury is a major god in Roman religion and mythology, being one of the 12 Dii Consentes within the ancient Roman pantheon. He is the god of financial gain, commerce, eloquence, messages, communication (including divination), travellers, boundaries, luck, trickery, and thieves; he also serves as the guide of souls to the underworld and the “messenger of the gods”.

In Roman mythology, he was the son of Maia, one of the seven daughters of the Titan Atlas, and Jupiter. In his earliest forms, he appears to have been related to the Etruscan deity Turms; both gods share characteristics with the Greek god Hermes. He is often depicted holding the caduceus in his left hand. Similar to his Greek equivalent Hermes, he was awarded a magic wand by Apollo, which later turned into the caduceus, the staff with intertwined snakes.

Blue Corridor-Massive Owl Dream 5-2-22

This morning’s dream was the most vividly coloured one I have had in many years.

I am in a car with my wife. We are driving down a narrow street and I am looking for an entrance in the walls. I will know it when I see it. There is an opening, and the walls are pointed with immaculately cut stone blocks. I know this is the place. The wife is hesitant in case it is private property. I say that I have seen this place a number of times in the dreaming. I turn right into the opening. The car we are driving is our right-hand drive Peugeot 207. As we enter the properties the walls are of a vibrant and almost radiant royal blue. The colour is very intense. We drive several metres down this tunnel.

The ground has dark red granite-based gravel. The tunnel heads off ahead of us. There is a turning to the right also with the intense blue walls. I take this turning and it leads to an immaculate courtyard in front of a grand French town house. There is a short staircase leading to the front door. I take this staircase. The door opens before me and a corridor leads me up into a large wooden floored ornate ballroom. It is a bit chavvy like Versailles.

The ball room is twenty to thirty metres long. At the far end of the room on a heavily decorated antique table is a huge ornate bird cage. It is about 1.5 metres tall and 1 metre in diameter. Inside the cage is a huge owl. The owl is almost as big as the cage. It stares right at me and then fluffs up all its feathers around its head to make a big circle. It then relaxes them and repeats this several times. The owl and I are staring at each other and there is a sense of being at-one with this owl. I sense that it is caught in its gilded cage. But the owl knows that it can at any time de-materialise the cage. This it does and the cage vanishes. The owl then stands on the table and fluffs up its feathers again whilst maintaining eye-contact.

I feel an enormous sense of camaraderie with the owl.

The dream ends.

Hospital – Zürich – Pinocchio – Crocodiles Dream 30-10-23.

Here is this morning’s dream. It seems out of the blue and at odds with my current life context.

The dream opens inside a hospital. I am talking to a young woman in a white coat there. She is asking me to talk to some of the people who have been stuck in the hospital for a long time. She gathers a few of them around they are all young and white. One of them who has been in for a long time asks me which illnesses I have had. I reply saying cancer and a broken hip. Only cancer I say. I say that I was only in hospital for a few days. She says that I should talk to Em who is in the other room. She has a number tattooed inside her cheek.

I go to Em’s room and there is a very beautiful young woman with blonde hair in a bob. She is wearing a white hospital gown with sparse tiny black flecks. I ask her to show me her tattoo. She shows me the inside of her left cheek and there is indeed a number written there. We joke about how these open at the back hospital gowns make it difficult to maintain modesty. I don one and clown around for her.

The reason they tattoo numbers is because she does not have health insurance and they need to know on whom they are operating. I notice a Swiss text on her bedside table.

I ask her, “are you Swiss?”

“Yes”

“From Zürich?”

“Yes…”

There is now a tall young man with very dark hair in the room.

I explain that I used to live in Switzerland and once worked at the University of Bern. I say that I know some people who may still be at ETH.

She says that she used to live near ETH.

The young man chirps up and says that he has to show me a video.

I go with him back to his room. He is a science teacher. He picks up a tablet computer which is very fancy with dials and other lights on it. He boots it up and using the touch screen scrolls through some files. He finds a video. He turns to show me the video. It zooms in on me doing a science demonstration for children. I am wearing my blue jacket and a pink shirt. It is a part of a series on how to present.

He says I thought I knew you from somewhere. That video is from an event I attended at Zürich. I recognised you from there.

I am gobsmacked. He says that he too is a bit of an intellectual like me. I say that I don’t consider myself an intellectual anymore. He is very exuberant.

We go back to the Swiss girl’s room and he shows her the video too.

I notice that it is misty outside and say that I need to get some fresh air. There is some confusion over which slippers to put on my feet. There is a pile of them and some do not fit, others I do not like the look of. I settle for some espadrilles or kung fu slippers.

They tell me to be careful.

Once I am outside in the mist I am in an inordinately good mood. I start to jog. Coming down the path in the opposite direction to me is a man with a white carrier bag. I feign to do a rugby tackle on him. He joins in the fun and we both beam a smile at each other.

Further down the path there are some people playing at pirates. There is a small child sized man who is wearing a white loincloth with a bandana. He is brown in colour and waving a cutlass about. He strikes me with the cutlass across the back.

It hurts but does not wound. I pick him up and he drops the cutlass.

I tell him to apologise. He refuses.

I am now holding him easily by both of his feet. I tell him that unless he apologises, I will dunk him in the pond.

He refuses. I dunk his head into the water for a few seconds. His face is now white, clean.

He says that that hurt.

Again, I ask him to apologise.

He says that he will never apologise to me, not ever.

I dip him this time bodily and he disintegrates into the water.

I reach into the water and pull out the pieces of a plastic toy bus which I assemble. There is a show cage on top of the bus. I reach down and find a plastic toy Pinocchio in two parts. I put the top half to the bottom half. I then insert Pinocchio into the cage. His nose has grown a little because of lying. I know Pinocchio and the man in the loin cloth to be one and the same. He has morphed into Pinocchio.

I close the door of the cage because that is where Pinocchio is most comfortable inside his cage.

I move on deeper into the park and I am joined by a woman with dark brownish hair. She feels familiar but we have never been introduced. Somehow, she has heard more about me than I about her. She has watched the whole Pinocchio scene.

As we progress along the path, we can see a pond across it. In it there is a small non-descript furry animal in the water. It is a bit like a sloth or lemur. The animal is wet through.

Around the animal closing in are a number of mid-size crocodiles. The woman run towards the animal to try to save it.

I shout out, “No!!!”

Nevertheless, she enters the water and picks up the animal. As she is trying to leave the pond one of the crocodiles grabs her leg and starts pulling her under.

I shout, “Oh no, not again.”

{In real life, as a child, I saw a game warden pulled under by a Nile crocodile about ten metres away from me.}

The crocodile drags her and the animal off under a piece of corrugated steel roofing in the water. The other crocodiles converge.

I find a large thick wooden pole and start to strike the crocodile who is biting her (Susan?) on the leg. I strike it several times.

I wake up with a start and was unable to re-enter this dream to find out what happened. I come downstairs put the coffee on and start typing.

Five – Siddhis – Blue Spheres Dream 11-8-23.

Somewhat unusually this dream was in the earlier part of the night.

I am walking through a London piazza in summer. A group of young women are sat having a picnic and chatting. Amongst that group are several who I knew and they are the age I knew them as students. As I walk past, I can hear them chatting about me. I say that I heard that. The mood is jocular, teasing, and light-hearted. I walk further on about one hundred metres. They are still talking about me. I whisper under my breath, “I heard that”. They are surprised that I can hear them and that they in turn can hear my whisper.

I say that I will know the exact place and time of my death. It is one of the five siddhis. Even at that distance they can “hear” that. They are astonished.

I get out a large multi-coloured balloon in the shape of a man. I start to blow it up and it grows in size at a truly rapid rate. My lungs are providing big gusts of air. It has been a part of a science outreach effort. As the balloon gets to be about my size the young women all come over. They are very friendly with me. They ask if the balloon can say inflated. I show them a tear in the fabric. I say that it cannot last and it starts to deflate.

I move on into a part of Kensington where there are swish hotels. I find myself in an immaculate dining room, where the tables have been set with crisp white linen and pristine glassware. I am wandering through the restaurant towards an exit. The maître d’, in black and whites come over towards me. I am glancing at the prices on the menus which are inlaid in a golden italic script.

Caringly he places his arm on my right shoulder. I sense he is homosexual. He is very warm with me.

“Good afternoon sir will you be joining us for dinner tonight?”

“No, I don’t think so, the prices are a little out of my league.”

“That is a shame sir, perhaps another day. The exit you seek is over there on the left.”

I go towards a bar area where there is a crowd of youngish men having some kind of party. There is a clearly marked exit.

Instead of taking that exit I go into a seminar room off the main restaurant.

In the seminar room there are five pairs of men. One of whom is Liam and his father.

On the floor are five pairs of bright royal blue spheres. These pairs consist of one sphere about 6 inches in diameter and another one about 24 inches. They are perfect spheres and vividly coloured.

There are five suitcases and five briefcases. The suitcases are for the larger spheres, the brief cases for the smaller ones.

I explain to the men that they must take these spheres to the locations in London as specified in their instructions. They must take care of them and I ask if there are any questions.

The dream ends.

Siddhi

In Indian religions, Siddhis (Sanskrit: सिद्धि siddhi; fulfillment, accomplishment) are material, paranormal, supernatural, or otherwise magical powers, abilities, and attainments that are the products of yogic advancement through sādhanās such as meditation and yoga. The term ṛddhi (Pali: iddhi, “psychic powers”) is often used interchangeably in Buddhism.

Siddhi is a Sanskrit noun which can be translated as “knowledge”, “accomplishment”, “attainment”, or “success”

Vaishnavism

In Vaishnavism, the term siddhi is used in the Sarva-darśana-saṃgraha of Madhvacharya (1238–1317), the founder of Dvaita (dualist) philosophy.

Five siddhis, according to Vaishnava doctrine

In the Bhagavata Purana, the five siddhis brought on by yoga and meditation are:

  4. agni arka ambu viṣa ādīnām pratiṣṭambhaḥ: checking the influence of fire, sun, water, poison, etc.
  5. aparājayah: remaining unconquered by others.

Ten secondary siddhis, according to Vaishnava doctrine

In the Bhagavata Purana, Krishna describes the ten secondary siddhis:

  • anūrmimattvam: Being undisturbed by hunger, thirst, and other bodily appetites.
  • dūraśravaṇa: Hearing things far away.
  • dūradarśanam: Seeing things far away.
