Pluralitas non est ponenda sine necessitate

——————————————-

One of the interesting thoughts for me which pertains slightly to this blog relates to finding an internally consistent and comprehensive explanation as to the nature of the dreams I have had and which are archived in this blog. I would genuinely be interested to hear any explanation from the psychology / psychiatry profession which attempts to explain the scope of them. This specifically so given my prior training as a scientist and current life context as a relatively socially isolated retired person.

Those dreams which appear to point at previous incarnations can be discounted as merely dreams. There is no need to invoke the hypothesis of reincarnation. But saying things are just dreams is a bit of a handwaving dismissal. It is not entirely satisfactory.

Invocation of the single hypothesis of reincarnation renders explanation easier in context and does not require any complicated theorising as to just why or how come I dream about, inter alia, Buddhist themed, dreams. Inherent in this is a difficulty because it suggests that there needs to be some mechanism of transfer of memory between different lives, different incarnations. It raises the question as to what exactly is the nature of the “thing” which not only reincarnates but which is able to carry memory and recollection in the absence of a biological body. The neuroscientist is likely to prefer a brain and perhaps evolving synaptic scaffold construct to explain memory. Such a thing cannot exist beyond the soft wet matter of living humanity. There is no biological or biochemical hypothesis which can account for the notion of memory transfer between lives. The science fiction writer or scientifically inarticulate new-ager might say, “it is all in the DNA”.  If it were, it is not facile to explain how “Buddhist DNA” found its way to a small valley in the foothills of Snowdon. Yes my mother when tanned could pass for an Indian especially if she wore a bindi. But the DNA explanation does not really wash. My dad was ginger.

The easiest explanation is to blame an overactive imagination on my part which somehow breaks though during sleep. Perhaps there is a part of my deep sub-conscious which wants to be “special” and thereby invents some new DSM-5 type nocturnal mental disorder, the classification of which could be career enhancing for some psychologist or other. I have a form of delusional psychopathy which may or may not be common. After all who in their right mind would make dreams like mine public? Best kept secret to avoid public gaze. We can come up with the Whacko McNutjob persona.

The fact of the dreams and their recall are, at least to me, real. My speculation is that they are not “common or garden”.

This does not require the invocation of significance. I am just some bloke who happens to dream a lot. No biggie…

Provided that they are not significant there is no wider problem or issue.

If however we invoke, even tentatively, a putative wider significance, a gamut of implications might surface. A similarity to mystical vision and quasi-religious imagery can be drawn. In some circles that is significant in terms of context and perhaps faith. The follow on question might be, “why does someone who, was for a short while, deep in the UK based science community have such phenomena?”. This community being the self-assigned debunker of myths and pseudoscience. “Bah!!”

One could say that weird stuff happens, end of story. It  / he is just an anomaly.

The easiest hypothesis is that the hundreds of dreams archived here are all “just some shit that I made up”. The follow on to this is that I must therefore have at least some imagination and persistent inventiveness. One could counter with the deep philosophical argument, “you just can’t make shit like this up!” I am not sure as to what the motive might be for this inventiveness though others could speculate freely. Maybe I am simply an attention seeker. Maybe it is all some big game to make people question the extent and wider applicability of their self-diagnosed omniscience.

For me it is just habit. If I have a dream which I can recall and am lucid in, when I get up of a morning,  I type it up in Word.  I sometimes make a short note on a post it before typing. There are close to 100 dreams in 2025.

I personally have no strong need to pick an explanation and have that as a definite. A part of the art of dreaming is to enjoy the unknown and the partially or poorly explained.

I can see multiple implications which will almost certainly never manifest. Life circumstance does not support these weekly possible trajectories. There is nothing I can do about it.

I could say something groovy…

The coalescence of the dreaming onto and into the physical plane is not easy. Surprisingly little, though nascent in dreaming, makes it through into the “agreed” and “shared” physical plane realties.

He is just a feckless dreamer, head in the clouds…

Each of us make our own versions of reality not all of which are entirely apt.

Man of Knowledge – Science?

I’ll suggest that I am too whacko for mainstream scientists and not whacko enough and therefore science-phobic for what might be called new agers. As a consequence I inhabit a no man’s land regarded with suspicion from behind the machine guns of each set of trenches.

From my perspective I have met a few people who have harped on that they are men of knowledge yet they know very little about modern science. Seems to me they have a whopping great gap in that knowledge. Call me nit picking but this seems big to me.

I am a “nasty” spoilsport scientist on one hand and a unicorn jockey flaky tree hugger on the other. I have looked into the ”occult” and things like Buddhist philosophy further than most. Those who are experts in these areas do not know modern science to the extent I do. Yet they may imagine they know more thoroughly than I, because I am tainted by science and perhaps not “pure”.

Once people even paid me to teach “science”.

This morning I had an extensive and  highly technical dream concerning the excited electronic states of small single ringed substituted aromatic heterocycles. It looked at the charge distribution among various atoms and how that changed upon optical excitation and what that did for the pKa of various protons. I was discussing this with someone as a means for a targeted and localised change in pH in vivo. There was a time when I probably knew way more than was healthy about such things. One can extrapolate from single to double ringed heterocycles to an extent. If you know why this is interesting, you know..

Quite why I had this dream I do not know. We watched a film “The Exorcism”, Master Chef Australia and Celebrity MasterChef UK  last night. Neither of these would point at configuration interaction in electronic excited states. Nor would it explain Naropa or seraphim.

It is funny that “new agers” and luddites like Trump are suspicious of science and scientists and equally weird that science can glance down the nose at the uninitiated. I have had my vaccinations and can also do Vajrayana chanting. I can solve a two dimensional particle in a box Schrödinger equation {still} and know how to light incense sticks and smudge with smouldering sage, I can do shamanic drumming.

It is all about Garry Glitter really.  People want to know whose gang you are in…what your true colours are…

Hopefully in a few weeks’ time I will feel a little less crippled.

Gedankenexperiment – Quantum Telepathy Patent

——————-

Question:

Is it possible to get a “Quantum Telepathy” patent granted?

—————–

As mentioned previously in the blog I am going to be physically incapacitated and will have some time on my hands after the hip-hop hip op. I will need something to do, to fill the time. One of the things which I enjoy is testing and finding out what may/may not be possible. I can lose interest quickly after that. I am more interested in possibility than execution. A vanity project might be to test if it is possible to get a “Quantum Telepathy” patent granted. A brief search suggests that there is no prior art. I am not sure how someone “skilled in the art” might be qualified and deemed expert. Aside from Marvel Comics there are no peer reviewed journals convinced that the parapsychological notion of telepathy is real and thereby measurable. Professor X might struggle to be believed. In effect such a patent would be for a phenomenon deemed imaginary by others. Patents are not about the already proven so imaginary or quasi-imaginary need not yet be a barrier to grant.

To dream up a tidy application would take quite a lot of work and effort

We are currently resident in France and have a right to remain which expires end of March next year. The government here is putting in place a mechanism to renew these rights for those allowed to stay under the Brexit withdrawal agreement. It is possible and likely that we will be allowed to remain. A change of government leaning towards the antimigration wing could happen and our future here might suddenly become much less certain. We could get booted out.

This means legally we are under a French jurisdiction and our governing body is Institut National de la Propriété Industrielle {INPI}. Even if I wanted to file an application in English to the UK or European patent office I am legally obliged to go through them first. I do not know yet if I can file in English at INPI.

———————————

“The patent application can be filed in any language but a French translation is required within two months following receipt of a Communication issued by the French Patent Office (INPI) shortly after the filing date.”

Cabinet Beau de Loménie

—————-

“But, for national security purposes, the Minister of National Defence, via the Intellectual Property Office of the General Delegation for Armaments (“DGA“ in French) has the right to review all applications for the protection of inventions made by natural or legal persons having their domicile or registered office in France, in order to authorize or not the exploitation of such inventions and thus avoid the possible leakage of so-called sensitive technologies, regardless of the country where the protection is sought.

Article L612-8 of the French Intellectual Property Code

Consequently, the applicants have: An obligation of first filing with the INPI. The applicant whose domicile or registered office is located in France cannot proceed outside of France with the first filing of a patent application. There is no exception to this provision.

The first filing must be submitted to the INPI, and for patents for which protection is sought outside France, the INPI must act as a receiving office and only transmit patent applications to foreign offices once the DGA has delivered its authorization for disclosure and exploitation.”

Oyat Law web site.

—————————-

Until this morning I was not aware of this.

To file a patent in French and get it granted adds an extra layer of complexity. Patent attorneys are not well know for pro bono work. That makes the challenge even more difficult / interesting.

I don’t know how the French system works. So that would be a complete unknown for me. I’ll wager that there are protocols and regulations. England might be a nation of shop keepers; France is a nation of administrators and dossier lovers.

I have no idea what kind of can or worms I might open in starting a French process. The possibilities for miscommunication are fairly vast.

In the UK things are a tad more familiar.

National security checks on patent applications

All patent applications filed at the IPO are checked to identify any which could be prejudicial to national security or public safety.

We screen every application filed to check whether it should be placed under directions according to Section 22 of the Patents Act 1977. This includes applications such as:

  • UK national applications
  • European patent applications under the European Patent Convention (EPC)
  • international applications under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT)

If such directions are imposed, we will write to you within six weeks of filing your application. You must provide an address for service within the UK for all applications placed under section 22 directions.

The directions under section 22 may only be lifted after your application has been inspected by the Ministry of Defence. You must file a Form DP2 to request such an inspection (we will send a copy of this form to you when we notify you of the directions); it is in your interest to return this form to us as soon as possible if you think the directions should not remain in force.

—————————————

From DP2 Form

Note In view of the prohibition under Section 22(1), the application should be provisionally treated as

“SECRET”. The copy of the specification should be enclosed in two envelopes, the inner envelope being marked “SECRET”

———————————-

SECRET

Definition:

Very sensitive information that requires enhanced protective controls, including the use of secure networks on secured dedicated physical infrastructure and appropriately defined and implemented boundary security controls, suitable to defend against highly capable and determined threat actors, whereby a compromise could threaten life (an individual or group), seriously damage the UK’s security and/or international relations, its financial security/stability or impede its ability to investigate serious and organised crime.

Threat Profile:

The threat profile for SECRET anticipates the need to defend against sophisticated, well-resourced and determined threat actors with higher levels of capabilities than would be typical for the OFFICIAL tier. This includes but is not limited to: capable state actors; sophisticated state sponsored actors such as cybercrime groups; some serious organised crime groups; and, staff who pose insider risk. Proportionate technical capabilities, user behaviours and security controls will be used to protect information and services from compromise by these actors, including from targeted and bespoke attacks.

————————

I have had a quick check on the published list of things deemed worthy of considering secret and although cryptography and cypher are listed, there is no reference to telepathy. I did not see the Q word either.

It all sounds more than a little heavy and intense.

Provided that telepathy is entirely imaginary then there is no security threat.  So this is perhaps a hypothetical. It is kind of hard to imagine someone taking such an application seriously.

Dr Whacko McNutjob, The Shed, 1001 Unicorn Jockey Drive, Camelot-sur-Mer, Narnia is not the kind of address that people take seriously so there is a good chance that anything I write will simply be waved through security checks. I do not have a bedlam.ac.uk corporate email address any longer.

People will pay less attention to Shrek from the swamp than a big cheese from a well know fromagerie.

Legally I must go through INPI or jeopardise residency. There are a lot of barriers even before beginning.

Hmmn… needs a bit more thought….

Omissions in the Blue Books Opus

If you have swung by the blog from time to time you will be aware that I have read what I call the Blue Books opus written by Alice Bailey and Djwhal Kuhl. The idea being that the transfer of content was by some form of telepathic mind-dump from Kuhl. You may also be aware that I comment of self-diagnosed omniscience suggesting that such a diagnosis is at best premature. I am pretty sure that many a “scientist” imagines that there is not a lot beyond his or her ken. And anything which is, is probably made up shit so not real. Most physical scientists, me included, can get a gist-grasp of the standard model of cosmogenesis. Few would accept that it is possible to talk with the Korrigans down by the river. Were I to claim such a thing then I must adopt my Whacko McNutjob persona. For some, things “beyond ken” is a DNC, a does not compute, it can mean imaginary or fantasy.

Not everyone has a closed mind.

In the opus Kuhl suggests that during initiation the matter of the physical vehicle for the incarnated being is adjusted by the application of a wand or rod of initiation. The detail provided is sketchy  and the nature of the forces involved ill explained. In order for the indwelling consciousness to evolve the vehicle needs a kind of upgrade to enable. This suggests that lifetime after lifetime for an initiate the vehicle need to be boosted and upgraded. A third degree initiate must therefore suffer or receive the first and second upgrades before the third, each life time. This is implied but not specified.

The opus discusses little about what happens when the incarnating Jiva is not in meat. He does not dwell on the intermediate or Arupa formless state. He says that many of the masters have no need of form so they “exist” without form {for aeons}. Philosophically it is interesting to note that the entire notion of physical time implies matter. Is immaterial time different, can it too be measured with an atomic clock? The implications is that time out of meat is “longer” than time in meat, measured in planet  earth days.

What are the discarnate rules? Who is in charge? What happens, what occurs? What does one experience?

Kuhl is very scant on the abilities of initiates and masters for perhaps a number of motives. One of these being the problems caused by over active imaginations and another being that he does not want to show off or list. Similarly he touches on the abilities of the dark adepts but does not formally discuss the black ritual magic they apply. In a global clarity based view there is no need for specific clarity details unless to convey a particular thought form with example. He also does not want dangerous knowledge falling into the wrong hands.

He mentions the Sanat Kumara in whose thought form, the planet Earth, those of us who are as yet  meaty, abide. The scope of a being  able to envision a planetary scale must be vast. Way bigger than a white bearded dude on a cloud with his tackle hanging out. Such a notion must be by definition beyond a human ken. The dream of the Sanat Kumara is the dream in which we live and have our being.

If it is beyond your ken does that mean that it cannot be real?

The implication being that if you are messing with a Sanat Kumara, you are considerably out of your depth and “he” could enact something of a global or plate tectonic scale. The Richter scale would not have sufficient dynamic range. We have seen the impact of a “minor” tsunami at Fukushima. A subducting plate could easily produce large amplitude motions.

Without six sigma proof many would deny that such a being as a Sanat Kumara exists.

One of the main things that Kuhl omits is the growing human obsession with this notion of proof. Philosophically it is clear to see that in an absence of theorem proof does not exist. Therefore proof is an entirely mental construct. A construct which is manufactured by humans and therefore as equally impermanent as they are.

The world Kuhl describes in his work with Bailey is a pre-1960s world. That world has change vastly. There has probably been more change in the last 65 years than perhaps in the millennium before. Whatever he discussed was based upon the scope of human knowledge then. It has changed since. The arrival of Zoom and Teams has rendered the need for telepathic communication obsolete.

Humans have always been arrogant about how much they know. Generation after generation that confidence in the completeness of their own knowledge has been seen to be ill-founded. Kuhl does not speculate in detail how things might change in the sixty odd years after his opus. He does speculate on the nature of reincarnation and the externalisation of the so-called hierarchy. His blueprint is a best guess snapshot for how things were then. It is accurate to say that things have changed. Some truths however are immutable.

The work, the opus, is comprehensive. To my mind, the mind that could hold and verbalise that has to have scope and prowess, an intellect of considerable capacity.

It is not Possible – Fish ‘n Chips

I am quite fond of a challenge from time to time. Especially when those challenges seem nearly impossible. A part of the motivation behind doing a start-up company was to find out, by way of experimentation, if it was actually possible. I was serious about the idea of the company as well. But the difficulty seemed like icing on the cake. We raised £5 million start-up funds {year 2000} based on one day of concentrated pitches. People were very surprised at the time. My personal pitch to fund hit rate remains very high at 100% with one outfit saying to come back later if/when we wanted a bigger funding tranche.

The more I think about it the idea of trying to get a potentially ground breaking {premature} patent in Quantum Telepathy granted under my new alias is attractive. We already have Quantum Heralding and Quantum Teleportation, so why not? Given that quantum remains a “hot topic” there will be tech companies and patent watchers doing key word monitoring. There may be governmental interest globally. When shit loads of money is involved people monitor intellectual property (IP). Portfolios are important and valuable. There is intelligence gathering.

It might be a flash in the pan tomorrows chip wrapper kind of story.

Such a patent application would appear on the radar, so to speak. Nobody would take me seriously because Man-in-his-shed Ltd is not a renown company or institution. Someone would scan read the application because it would be their job so to do. In all likelihood it would stop there. Unless someone wanted a light interest kind of quasi-joke story to go with the cute fluffy animals at the end of the news. I am no industrial or corporate threat. My shed contains no lasers simply a sit-on mower and a hedge trimmer. I have not worn a suit in over a decade.

Already I am the only quantum optics patent holder in the rural farming commune where I live. At a guess the local newspapers might find this quirk worth a few column millimetres.

The weirdest outcome would be predictivity.

In a film script a number of possible yet unlikely plot lines could ensue…

You never know what might happen. It is sufficiently off-the-wall to have highly unpredictable results. Once the radar blips anything might happen…

hmmnnnnn…

Just in from the IPO…

I have not long ago made this on my PC…

This is what a patent grant would look like for Mr McNutjob. Times New Roman looks good!!

Careful examination of the application date is strongly advised, it is a glimpse of the future.

I am no expert, it only took me a few minutes.

Heaven knows what those skilled in the art might do…

Information and Context

Because people are lazy, they tend to treat information in a monopolar way, without actually acknowledging that. We have monopolar information. They are very confirmation bias oriented. The red caps might hear gospel from the don, the green caps from The Guardian and the anti-brown-Islam-o-phobes might want to hear Uncle Nigel pontificate. People perceive according to how they want to perceive, they believe what they want to hear. Perception is monopolar and not balanced or heteropolar. Bias is pandemic.

Taking a monopolar information source out of a wider context is rarely wise. Newspapers are sold to their biased audience and articles are targeted at that bias. Tell me what I want to hear and I will buy your newspaper, or clickety-click it on line so that you can get advertisement revenue.

I could say that I have a fair general knowledge. Out of context that is a lie. I would be shit at normal pub quiz general knowledge, because a) I don’t like soccer, b) I have no idea about current soap operas and c) I know nothing about package holiday destinations nor who is hot on social media. I would be a middling team member on a University Challenge quiz team.

I can say with a fair degree of confidence that I understand how academic science is enacted and reported. I may be rusty on nuance, but I have a good gist. I can read a Nature article and know to what extent I understand and if there are gaps in understanding which I might need to follow up on. If I watch a video on YouTube, I know that it is almost always surface and that people have a click generating agenda. Pass the Saxa salt, please.

I have read widely in the esoteric – occult – new age bookshelves of the library, the one with actual books in not on-line. I have intellectual access to that context something your common or garden scientist will not have. Many so-called scientists are disproportionately fearful of being labelled “whacko”. The gossip around “cold-fusion” is exemplar. Yet I have discussed over a cigarette on the steps of the Chemistry Department at Imperial College with a practising homeopath and staff member. We talked and speculated on quantum effects in water memory. Homeopathy is derided by many a sceptic yet demonstrably erudite scientist.

People are scared of the occult. It actually means “difficult to see” as in “an occult fracture of the T3 vertebra”. It does not mean that I am going to bite the head off a bat, spit blood to anoint the bone of goat and point that at you whilst chanting incantations for your demise.

People can and do get the wrong end of the stick.

It is possibly not illegal to file a patent application on “Quantum Telepathy” using the name Whacko McNutjob at the Intellectual Property Office in Newport, less eye catching perhaps at the European Patent Office unless the examiner was a Brit. One could ascertain if there was prejudice against Nut-jobs. We could define a new term, nutjobphobic.

I am confident that I can write an application of sufficient plausibility. I have three granted patents already.

People can over and misinterpret just about anything which they read on the internet. Rarely do they check understanding nor can they be arsed to read around or do further research. The gospel according to SEO optimized Google search returns is a highly skewed and paid for version. People forget and rely.

The informational fodder is not always the best fully nutritional meal for an avid clicker.

No Biggie

In case you were wondering, yes, I did inhale.

I think I might try to change my name by deed poll. I quite like the name Whacko McNutjob. Apparently at the Royal Courts of Justice it costs £50.32. I can already use the name but if I want it on official documents I need a Deed Poll. It tickles me, the idea of trying to file a Patent Application using the name Whacko McNutjob. It would be fun to see quasi-official stationery addressed to Mr Whacko McNutjob.

Is the domain free? Whackomcnutjob.com is today on sale for five euros. Careful how you spell that.

If I got a job on a boat out of Southampton, my address could be Mr Whacko McNutjob, Boaty McBoatface, South Atlantic, near Las Malvinas.

Perception is a weird thing. Many are easily freaked by things like cancer. To us, as a four cancer couple, it is more commonplace than to others. The odds of sampling the various probabilities twice for two people, and getting our results are not favourable, we are in an unlikely or improbable situation. It may seem like a Biggie or whopper to others. It is a simple reality to us.

To me it is no biggie that I am here on the compound. I have been here for six years. This morning I cleaned out the kitchen exhaust water degreasing unit. It is not an overly pleasant thing to do. It saved us a couple of hundred euros. This is not far off a weekly shop for us. Because we are careful with grease waste it should last now until summer next year. A lot of people would turn up their noses at doing such a whiffy thing, it would be beneath them.

What may be a biggie for some is not for others.

People may think that it should not be like this. Why not? It is how it is. No biggie.

To me it is the most normal thing in the world to write rambling blogs covering diverse themes, to have extensive dreams and to make speculations. They don’t bother anyone. According to WordPress hardly anybody reads this blog, the outer world is largely unaware and uninterested by what goes on in this little corner of the internet. The writing perhaps keeps my dementia at bay.

No biggie.

The only potential problems come IF anyone thinks things should be different or ought to be another way. IF for some reason the content here has some kind of outer-world significance.

At last the medical dance card is thinning out for summer. I can get the two-stroke strimmer out and clear some spaces. Weirdly an hour and a half of strimming seems to make by back pain less intrusive.

One item on the pre-op checklist is checked off. A few more to go.

No biggie…
